Frequently asked questions
Answers to the stuff people usually ask us first.
RennoMate helps Australian homeowners make sense of renovation quotes. Upload PDFs or photos of the quotes you've received (one per contractor), and we'll give you a clean side-by-side comparison: a score out of 10, the key watch-outs, a main-checks summary (price, scope, warranty, timeline, exclusions, GST, ABN), and a short draft message you can send back to the tradie to ask the right questions.
The goal is simple — help you spot the stuff you'd miss on first read, so you can sign with more confidence (or push back before you do).
Yes, RennoMate is free while we're in pilot. Upload as many quotes as you like. We're a small team building this for real Aussie homeowners and we'd rather have you use it and tell us what's missing than put a paywall up before we've earned it.
If we introduce paid plans later, anyone who signed up during pilot keeps free access to everything they've already uploaded.
Our AI reads your quote and pulls out the numbers, scope, timeline, warranty, exclusions, GST, and ABN — then compares it against state-specific rules (e.g. NSW HBA licensing thresholds, VIC warranty requirements) and flags anything that looks off.
It's good, not perfect. We always show you the extracted data so you can verify it, and we deliberately err on the side of flagging things as Check rather than ignoring them. Think of it as a thorough second opinion — not legal or building advice. For big jobs, always get advice from a licensed builder, solicitor, or your state's building authority.
Yes. Quotes you upload are stored in your private account and only you can see them. We don't sell your data, and the AI that processes your quote doesn't train on it.
You can delete your account any time from the Account page, which removes your profile, projects, notes, and visible quotes from the app.
Full details in our Privacy Policy.
When you upload a renovation quote, we keep a copy of the file and its parsed data on our servers so we can improve the AI analysis over time — spotting patterns across thousands of real quotes is how we get more accurate for the next homeowner. This copy is retained even after you delete your account.
It is never shared with third parties, sold, or used for marketing. It sits in a private archive only our team can access.
If you want your retained quote files fully purged, email support@rennomate.com from the address linked to your account and we'll action the request within 30 days. See Privacy Policy §7 for the full wording.
RennoMate is completely independent — we have no commercial relationships with the tradies whose quotes you upload. Contractors don't pay us. We don't send them your details. We don't take referral fees, kickbacks, or advertising money from them, and we never will.
That's the whole point: we work for you, not for the industry. Our analysis is based on what's actually in the quote and what Australian consumer protection says should be in one — nothing else.
That's the whole point of RennoMate, really. Missing details are the biggest source of renovation regrets. We'll flag anything important that's missing — no ABN, no timeline, no warranty, no exclusions list, unclear GST, etc — and we'll put those exact points into the draft message you can send back to the tradie.
The fix is almost always: ask. A legit contractor will fill in the gaps without fuss. One who dodges the questions is telling you something.
Not yet — and we think that's the honest answer. Renovation pricing is too tailored to judge at a glance: it depends on the size of the space, the fixtures you want, whether walls or plumbing are coming out, the age of the existing build, and what each tradie includes in their lump sum. Two “bathroom reno” quotes for $20k can mean completely different things.
For now we focus on what we can judge fairly: scope detail, legal compliance, warranty, GST clarity, and what's missing from the quote vs the others you've uploaded. That's usually where renovators actually get caught out.
We'd rather say “we don't know” than give you a confident-sounding benchmark that's wrong for your specific project.
RennoMate is built by a small independent team of Aussie homeowners who got tired of squinting at renovation quotes and trying to guess what was reasonable. We're not a builder, not a trade network, not a lead-generation site — we're just trying to make the process less opaque for people spending their life savings on a reno.
